How to Wok Broccoli? Multiple tasty ways

Cleaning broccoli is done in no time. A few actions and you’re done.
Cut the broccoli florets off the stem. Make the broccoli florets the same size, because then they have the same cooking time. If you also want to use the trunk, peel the trunk first and then cut it into small pieces.
Broccoli Blanching
Before we stir-fry the broccoli, it is wise to blanch the broccoli first. Blanching is cooking briefly. How does this work?
- Cut and wash the broccoli as described above.
- Place a pan of water on the heat source and bring the water to a boil.
- When the water boils, the cut broccoli goes into the water.
- Bring the water to a boil again and then cook the broccoli for 3 minutes.

There are many recipes for stir-frying broccoli, while it is actually not necessary. If you look in your fridge and your kitchen cabinets, you probably see a lot of products that you can use. Broccoli goes very well with other products. To give you some guidance, below are 5 recipes that you can use.
However, be creative and add other vegetables or seasonings whenever you like and taste!
Broccoli Wok Soy Sauce
One of the well-known recipes or actually ingredient is soy sauce. This sauce gives your broccoli a delicious sweet taste. You will need the following ingredients for 4 people:
- 800g broccoli
- 2 cloves of garlic
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp sesame seeds
- 3 tbsp soy sauce
- pepper and salt
Preparation method:
- Cut, wash and blanch the broccoli as described above.
- Place the wok on the heat source with a tablespoon of olive oil.
- When the oil is hot, add the crushed garlic and sesame seeds to the pan. Bake this for approx. 2 minutes.
- Then add the blanched broccoli and soy sauce and stir to combine.
- Now wok your dishes for 3-4 minutes.
- Pierce the broccoli with a fork. If it goes in easily, the broccoli is al dente. If not, cook it a little longer.
- Finally, season with salt and pepper.
You can also add thin slices of carrot or baby corn to this dish for a change. These go into the pan at the same time as the broccoli.
Serve the broccoli with baked potatoes, for example.
Broccoli wok with bacon
Another recipe for stir-frying broccoli is with bacon. We use vegetarian bacon for this. You need the following ingredients:
- 800 grams of broccoli
- 1 bell pepper
- 200 grams frozen peas
- 1 tbsp sunflower oil
- about 200 grams of veggie bacon
- pepper and salt
The preparation is as follows:
- Cut, wash and blanch the broccoli as described above.
- Cut the bell pepper into cubes or strips
- Heat the sunflower oil in a wok
- When the oil is hot, the peppers can be placed in the pan. Bake this for about 2 minutes.
- Then the vegetarian bacon pieces go into the pan and fry them for 2 minutes.
- Finally, add the broccoli and peas to the pan. Now stir-fry everything on high heat for about 4 minutes.
- Pierce the broccoli with a fork to check for doneness.
- Finally, add salt and pepper and taste your dish.
You can also squeeze two cloves of garlic and fry them with the paprika. This gives a slightly different taste.
This dish is delicious with rice or baked potatoes. When you have made rice, you can stir it in as the last thing. Enjoy your meal.
Broccoli Wok Garlic
Broccoli and garlic go very well together, especially during stir-frying. You don’t need many ingredients and it is easy to prepare. You will need the following for 4 people:
- 8 00 g fresh broccoli
- 2 cloves garlic, very finely chopped
- 2 tablespoon sunflower
- 250 ml vegetable or garden herb stock
- pepper and salt
The preparation is as follows:
- Cut and wash the broccoli as described above.
- Place the wok with the sunflower oil on the heat source and heat the oil.
- Now fry the crushed garlic for 2 minutes.
- Then put the broccoli in the wok and mix it well with the oil and garlic
- Then the stock goes into the wok and bring it to a boil.
- When it comes to a boil, let the broccoli stand for 8-10 minutes with the heat on medium-high.
- Pierce the broccoli to see if it is cooked through.
Now you have wonderfully seasoned broccoli along with garlic. Delicious as a side dish.
Broccoli Wok Ketjap
The next in line of broccoli stir-fry recipe is broccoli with soy sauce. Kecap has a very sweet taste that really gives broccoli more spice. For this you need the following ingredients for 4 people:
- 600 grams broccoli
- 3 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 pepper
- 1 clove of garlic
- 1 tbsp sunflower oil
- 300 grams carrots cut into thin pieces
- pepper and salt
Now proceed as follows:
- Cut and clean the broccoli as described above.
- Also clean the peppers and remove the seeds.
- Halve the carrots.
- Then mix the crushed garlic, chopped pepper, soy sauce and soy sauce together and add 4 tablespoons of water.
- Place the wok on the heat source and heat the sunflower oil in it.
- Then the broccoli and carrots go into the pan and wok for 3 minutes on high heat. Keep stirring the vegetables while frying, otherwise it will burn.

Broccoli Stir-fry Cashew Nuts
The last recipe is broccoli stir-fry with cashew nuts. This delicious dish goes well with any pasta. What you need for 4 people is the following:
- 1 firm leek
- 600 grams broccoli
- 250 grams of mushrooms
- 150-200 grams of veggie bacon
- 1 tablespoon oil
- 2 tablespoons unsalted cashew nuts
The preparation is as follows:
- Cut and wash the broccoli as described above.
- Wash and cut the leek into small rings.
- Prepare the mushrooms and cut them into slices.
- Heat the oil in the wok and fry the leek together with the vegetarian bacon.
- Then add the mushrooms to the pan and fry them briefly, about 1 minute.
- Then the broccoli goes into the pan along with 150 milliliters of water.
- Bring to the boil for about 6-8 minutes.
- Pierce the broccoli to check if it is already cooked.
- Now season with salt and pepper.
- Remove the broccoli from the pan with a slotted spoon and serve with the pasta.
