  • 1 onion chopped
  • salt
  • Pepper
  • Saffron, a few threads
  • Olive oil
  • Almonds 100 grams, without skin
  • 1 liter vegetable stock

How to Season Spiced Afghan Rice:

Put oil in the pan and fry the onion. Add the saffron and salt and pepper. Stir this around. Add the dry, cold rice and stir well. Add 1 liter of vegetable stock, as well as the herbs turmeric, cardamom and cloves. The almonds, without skin, can also be added. Mix everything well and let it cook over medium heat. Stir occasionally until the rice is cooked. If the stock has evaporated too much, you can just top it up a bit or add a little warm water. Taste before draining the rice.

Rice With Curry Herbs

In Asian cuisine, curry is a commonly used mixture of spices, which is why it is also a dish with curry. What do you need for this:

  • 3 tsp curry
  • 1 cup Oat Cuisine fraiche
  • 400 grams white rice
  • Green beans if desired

How are you going to season this rice: 

When you have cooked white rice, in salt, according to the instructions, drain it in the colander. Heat some oil in the wok or frying pan and add rice. Loosen the rice with a fork and add the curry. Oatly’s Oat Cuisine fraiche, for example, also goes through the rice. Stir everything well. Now you have a creamy yellow rice. Taste what you think of the combination of rice with curry spices and season the rice if you are still missing something. Salt, pepper, or more curry. Just what you like.

Cooking Rice With Herbs

If you don’t want a recipe at all, but just want to know how to season rice, there are various herbs that lend themselves very well.

Cook rice with, for example, a bay leaf or a cinnamon stick, which you remove later. Delicious with red cabbage or stewed pears, for example.
