Tips to kill winged termites when they fly into the house

There are some effective tips for killing winged termites

The situation of massive termites flying into houses usually occurs around March and April of the lunar calendar, causing trouble for many families. How to prevent and kill them?

The weather in early summer with rising temperatures, hot air and the appearance of showers is very favorable for termites to reproduce and build new nests. They will leave the nest before the rainy season and find places with light, near food sources. In places with winged termites, when the window or door is open, the termites will invade and buzz around the room lights. The appearance of termites causes trouble for the daily life and health of family members:

  • Termites destroy objects and wooden structures in houses.
  • The electrical cable system and electronic equipment were seriously damaged.
  • Termite ants fly into the house and fall into food and water sources.

How to kill winged termites?

To kill flying termites flying into your house, you can apply the following simple but very effective methods:

Turn off the electric lights

Winged termites often appear at night when there is light in the room. Therefore, if you go out or do not need to use many room lights, you should turn them off to avoid attracting termites to nest. Additionally, you can use fans to chase termites out of your living space.

Place a lamp (like a study lamp) under a large basin of water. You can add chemicals or soap to the water. When termites sense the temperature, they will fly in and be burned by the heat from the light, fall and die.

Close all doors in the house

When it rains or is windy during the day, you should immediately close the doors in the house to minimize the possibility of termites entering the house. If termites fall into your house, you can use a racket to break their wings.

Use kerosene lamps

In the evening, winged termites often appear more often indoors, especially in places with light. Therefore, when you no longer need to use light, turn off the power to avoid attracting termites from outside.

Termites that have appeared in the house can be killed with an oil lamp. You place the oil lamp on a high brick block or place it in a basin of soapy water. Termites are attracted to the lamp, fly closer, touch the hot oil lamp, fall into the water and die.

If you don’t have an oil lamp, you can use a small light bulb and follow the above method.

Use insect spray

This is the fastest and most convenient tip to kill termites. You just need to go to the supermarket or convenience store and buy a can of insect spray, then spray it on the areas where termites appear in the house. In addition, you can also make your own termite spray solution by diluting one part of soap with spray water, adding a few drops of peppermint essential oil to the solution and using.

Note that this method of killing winged termites is only suitable for families full of adults with good resistance. If your family has young children, the elderly or someone with allergies, you should do something else. Furthermore, before using chemicals to kill flying termites, you need to carefully read their ingredient list as well as instructions for use to ensure safety and effectively kill flying termites.
