What are carbohydrates?
Carbohydrates are an important source of energy for your body.
There are different types of carbohydrates: sugars, fiber and starch.
If you want to lose weight (weight loss), it is important to choose slow carbohydrates. The body digests this much more slowly, resulting in fewer high spikes in blood sugar levels.
Slow carbohydrates can be found in whole grain products, vegetables and fruit, yogurt and legumes.
Fast carbohydrates are found in sweets and biscuits, but also in ice cream, soft drinks and white pasta.
Low-carb apple pie recipe
Apple pie contains ingredients such as flour (flour), apples and sugar. White flour and sugar are known to contain a lot of fast carbohydrates. This is of course not beneficial when you are on a diet. That is why you will find a low-carb apple pie recipe below.
You need this:
- 175 grams almond flour
- 2 apples
- 35 – 50 grams of butter
- 2 eggs
- 2 teaspoons Stevia (sweetener)
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
Preheat the oven to 180 degrees. Meanwhile melt the butter in a pan. Add the eggs, almond flour and baking powder and mix well.
Peel the apples and cut them into small cubes. Sprinkle with cinnamon and stevia and mix the apples into the batter. Grease a small springform pan and fill it with the batter.
Place the springform pan in the oven: after 40 to 50 minutes the apple pie is ready.

Apple pie with cream
How delicious is it to enjoy low-carb apple pie with whipped cream? Always opt for whipped cream without sugar: it contains few carbohydrates. If you find the taste too bland, add some sweetener to the whipped cream. Ready-made whipped cream from aerosols contains a lot of carbohydrates, rather leave it alone.
About the ingredients
It is important to collect the right ingredients, but where do you find them? Stevia is a sweetener that is up to 300 times sweeter than regular sugar. The advantage of Stevia is that it contains no calories and therefore fits within a low-calorie diet. Stevia is available as a sweetener at the supermarket.
Almond flour is a little more difficult to obtain. This is easily digestible and low-carbohydrate flour with a source of healthy fats and proteins.
You can find almond flour or almond powder at the specialized supermarket, the nut specialist or online. It is also possible to make your own almond flour: this consists of blanched almonds (boiled briefly in water). This causes the brown membranes to come off. The almonds are then finely ground in a food chopper or food processor until a flour is formed. This can also be done with white almonds or almond shavings.
