Vitamin E

Vitamin E is one of the thirteen vitamins that the body needs. This vitamin ensures that cells, cell wall, bloodstream and tissue in the body continue to function properly. It also plays an important role in the metabolism in a cell.

Vitamin E is found in foods such as: sunflower oil, diet margarine, whole grain bread , apples and nuts . In addition, it is also found in the following products: shampoo, body lotion, sunscreen. Often the vitamin is in the latter products to a lesser extent and has insufficient effect.

Too much vitamin E.

Theoretically, it could have effects with regard to disturbances in tissues and can influence the process therein. In practice, however, no adverse effects have occurred so far that have resulted in serious damage to/in the body. Often it does not happen that people get too much vitamin E.

Vitamin E deficiency

If the above vitamin is deficient, if this occurs because it is very rare, there is a serious disorder in the absorption of nutrients. Anemia or brain damage could occur. This is based on an adult.

When it comes to small children born prematurely, a deficiency of vitamin E often occurs, because this vitamin is insufficiently produced in the intestine, because the digestion has yet to get started. This causes anemia, edema and an increase in the number of platelets. But the above also occurs to a lesser extent. For vitamin E, children should take in about 3 to 6 milligrams per day. Adults should count on 8 to 10 milligrams per day. Pregnant and breastfeeding women may use a higher dose (10-12mg).
