The passion fruit is ripe when it feels heavy compared to the shape and when the skin is wrinkled. If the passion fruit is not yet ripe, keep it at room temperature and place it on the fruit bowl. It takes about 2-3 days for them to ripen.

When Is Passion Fruit Ripe?
The fruit of the passion tree has a round, sometimes oval shape and is 5 to 7 centimeters in size. The fruit is only nice and sweet when it is really ripe. You can tell if the fruit is ripe by feeling and looking closely.
- See if the skin of the passion fruit is wrinkled. If so, the passion fruit is ripe and has a nice sweet taste. If the passion fruit has a smooth skin, it is not ripe. Very wrinkled passion fruit is also ripe. They only contain less moisture but the taste and nutrients are preserved.
- Feel the fruit by shaking. If it is heavy compared to the shape, that is a good sign. The passion fruit is ripe to eat and contains a lot of pulp and seeds.

Keep Passion Fruit In Fridge
You can also store the passion fruit in the fridge. It’s not the most ideal environment, but it’s possible. However, the shelf life and taste deteriorate quickly and you can store the fruit for a very short time, 1-2 days maximum.
It is a tropical fruit that is not used to a cold environment. If you leave them in the fridge too long, they will rot. The passion fruit becomes moldy and starts to smell. So look closely and smell the fruit when you take it out of the fridge.
Passion Fruit Freezing
If you have a lot of passion fruits that are ripe, you can freeze them. Not the whole fruit, just the pulp.
To do this, cut the passion fruit in half and remove the pulp and seeds. Put it in a sealable container and place it in the freezer. You can now keep it for twelve months.
If you have a lot of fruit, make portion packs of it. This way you don’t have to defrost everything and you can add the passion fruit per portion to your dessert, salad or smoothie.
Nice to do is to make more ice creams. Add to the pulp at your discretion and mix it together. Then pour it into the ice cube mold or into an ice cream mold and place it in the freezer.
