A living being is defined by characteristics that are its own such as:

  • Be autopoietic (they have the ability to perform functions such as Self-preservation , Self-replication and Self-regulation )
  • They have an active metabolism
  • They have a cellular structure (composed of one or several cells ). In any case, organisms are nothing more than living beings.

On the one hand, the term organism is very frequently used as a synonym for a living being, in this sense, an organism is the set of Atoms and Molecules that form a very organized and complex material structure in which molecular communication systems that interact also intervene. with the environment, exchanging energy and matter in a very orderly manner and which are what will allow the organism in question to perform the most basic functions of life such as nutrition , relationship and reproduction . In this way described, organisms function and act on their own without losing the structural level until death .

Organisms are composed of matter, which, 95%, is made up of four bioelements that are carbon , hydrogen , oxygen and nitrogen and its basic properties are organization, homeostasis , which is the natural internal balance that each organism observes. , irritability , which is the reaction to those external stimuli, the metabolism that is responsible for the process of transforming energy into nutrients so that the organism remains active and functioning, development, the more nutrients are transformed the organism will acquire size, reproduction, which is the ability of organisms to produce copies of themselves, and adaptation to the environment.

biological organ

Structure of living beings ( animals , plants , etc.) endowed with one or more functions and made up of tissues. On the other hand, and at the request of Biology , an organism is the set of tissues with structure, which has a defined function and is part of a living being.

Organization and Institution

And finally, the word organism is also used very frequently to designate and refer to those social systems that are designed to achieve goals and objectives through the provision of human resources and any other type that contributes to the aforementioned purpose.

Organization

Social system that was designed to achieve objectives and goals through human resources , human talent management and other types. They are made up of subsystems, which relate to each other by fulfilling specialized functions. People also use them as a systematic agreement to achieve some specific purpose. They are the object of study of Administration Science , and at the same time of other areas such as Economics , Sociology and Psychology .

Institution

Mechanism of social order and cooperation that is specific to normalizing the behavior of a group (whether small or composed of an entire society ). They transcend individual wills, since they are identified by imposing a purpose theoretically considered a social good, or normal for that group. In each case the mechanism may vary, but it is also worth noting that numerous norms or rules are developed that are not flexible. The term is generally applied to norms of conduct and customs that society considers important, such as formal government organizations and public service. It is one of the most important objects of study in social sciences ( anthropology , sociology , political science , economics and administration ). It is also a central issue for law (in relation to the formal regime for developing and implementing rules). Its creation and evolution plays a very important role in the history of societies, including science, the history of organizations.
