Spice maker İsa Gökçeoğlu, who has been a tradesman in the historical Mardin Bazaar for 50 years, said, “Harmel, or harlequin seed, has been used in Mardin since time immemorial. It is perfect for hemorrhoids. We sell it for 50 lira per kilo. We sell 5-10 kilos a day. The ones that are hung on the rope are also made in the village, and we sell them.
