Ripe mangoes can be stored for up to a week in the refrigerator, even a cut one will last 3 days. But unripe mangoes for ripening are kept for up to a week at room temperature, then stored as ripe. Mangoes are not stored at room temperature – a maximum of 3-4 hours. In this blog, we will discuss how to store mangoes for a long time.

How to store mangoes

If the mango is bought ripe, the maximum shelf life is from 5 days to 2 weeks. The fruit can be stored on a shelf in the refrigerator. Or, packed in paper, store in another cool place, at a temperature not exceeding +5 ° C. If the mango is quite large and you only cut off a part – do not worry, wrap the mango with cling film, it will last another 2-3 days in the refrigerator. Cut into pieces of mango is best put in a container, cover tightly, and put in the refrigerator, it is better to use it within 24 hours.

How to store mangoes for future use

For storage for future use, unripe fruits are more often acquired. The unripe fruit is left to “reach”. It should be immediately put on a warm sunny windowsill, in a paper package. After a few days, the mango will be ripe – quite soft, with a pleasant sweet and sour taste. If you were brought a mango straight from an exotic country and it is soft, you can keep it in the refrigerator for 3-4 days.

After ripening, it is better to put the fruit back on the shelf in the refrigerator, in the same paper packaging.

The mango fruit also helps to keep it deep-frozen. Peeled and cut fruit (without pits) in the freezer will retain its taste for several months.
