How to remove grass stains from jeans

Grass juice quickly penetrates into the fibers of denim and is almost impossible to wash out with regular washing. This is because such material is quite dense, and detergents have difficulty penetrating deep into its fibers.

However, despite this, jeans can be restored to their original appearance without resorting to dry cleaning services. To do this, you just need to treat the stains with folk methods before hand or machine washing or with additional household chemicals.

General recommendations

If you notice a grass stain, it is best to start removing it immediately, since grass juice contains coloring agents that become more stable as they dry. But you should keep in mind that:

  • You can’t soak it in cold water. The coloring pigments dissolve only at high temperatures.
  • Do not rub the stained area with dry or wet wipes. This will speed up the process of impregnation of the fibers with grass juice, and the stain will simply spread.
  • The stain remover must be suitable for colored items.
  • Test the product you choose to remove grass stains on an inside pocket or seam flap before using it. Some products may lighten colored material.
  • When treating a grass stain with one or another product, it is better to move from the edges to the middle. Then streaks will not form.
