  • 250 grams (chestnut) mushrooms
  • 25 grams vegetable margarine
  • Pepper and salt

Baking goes like this:

  1. Place the frying pan on the heat source and heat the pan with the vegetable butter.
  2. Cut the cleaned mushrooms into slices. If you have large mushrooms, you can halve them first. You can leave small mushrooms whole (also looks nice on your board).
  3. When the butter has melted, add the mushrooms to the pan. Make sure that the mushrooms have enough space in the pan. Stir it around and let it cook for a while.
  4. The moisture from the mushrooms will come into the pan and fry in its own moisture. Let this moisture evaporate.
  5. Stir occasionally, not too often, until they are brown or taste when you think they are ready (give the mushrooms a moment to fry until golden brown).
  6. The baking time in about 6-12 minutes and depending on the size of the mushrooms and the desired doneness.
  7. Finally add salt and pepper.

This is the basic recipe for frying mushrooms. You can now add other ingredients yourself that give your mushrooms a different taste.

During baking, the butter will be absorbed by the mushrooms. You can then add a little bit of butter again, but this is not necessary.

Mushrooms Baking Ketjap

Mushrooms fried in soy sauce are also called oriental mushrooms. Ketjap has a nice sweet taste. Sometimes sugar is also added in the recipe, but we omit this. We add a little bit of sambal. What do you need:

  • 500 grams (chestnut) mushrooms, sliced ​​or whole
  • 3-4 tbsp sweet soy sauce
  • Pepper and salt
  • 3 cloves garlic, chopped or crushed
  • sambal to taste

We prepare it as follows:

  1. Place a frying pan on the heat source and heat the oil or butter.
  2. Saute the garlic for a while and then add the mushrooms to the pan.
  3. Bake this for approx. 3 minutes and stir a few times.
  4. Put the ketjap manis in the pan and stir everything around.
  5. Then add a little sambal and stir everything.
  6. Lower the heat and let it cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  7. Taste whether your dish is flavorful, now you can add soy sauce or sambal.

Place the mushrooms on a serving platter and sprinkle with salt and pepper if desired. Parsley looks nice as a garnish. Enjoy your meal.

Mushrooms Recipe with Herbs

Herbs are delicious with mushrooms. Some herbs really come into their own with mushrooms and that is thyme, oregano, rosemary and parsley. Together with other seasonings, this becomes a delicious dish. What do you need?

  • 1 small onion or shallot, chopped
  • 1/4 tsp thyme
  • 1/4 tsp rosemary
  • 1/4 squeezed lemon juice

  1. Place the frying pan on the heat source and heat the oil or butter
  2. Saute the shallot briefly. Then add the mushrooms to the pan along with the herbs and fry them. You will see that the mushrooms release moisture. Let this moisture evaporate and fry the mushrooms for another 3 minutes.
  3. Add salt and pepper and the lemon juice

Baking Mushrooms In The Oven

Baking mushrooms in the oven is also a party. It takes a little longer than frying mushrooms in a pan, but the result is impressive. What can you make in the oven with mushrooms? These are the ingredients:


2 cloves garlic, crushed
3 teaspoons dry oregano
3 teaspoons dry parsley
50 grams vegetable butter
500 grams mushrooms
salt and pepper

We prepare it as follows:

  1. Mix the vegetable butter with the parsley, garlic and oregano.
  2. If it is unsalted butter, you can add some salt.
  3. Cut the mushrooms into quarters. If they are small, you can also leave them whole.
  4. Place the mushrooms in the oven dish and pour over the butter with herbs. Sprinkle the whole thing with pepper.
  5. Slide the dish into the preheated oven (200 degrees) and bake for 30 minutes. Check the oven occasionally and stir the mushrooms.
  6. Take a mushroom to taste if they are cooked.

Serve the mushrooms in a bowl, along with a nice fresh baguette. A delicious snack for in between or with a cozy get-together.

Saute Mushrooms In Oil Or Butter?

Mushrooms can be fried in oil or in butter. However, if you are going to bake the mushrooms in the oven, butter is preferred. This gives off more flavour, especially if you use creamy vegetable butter.

It doesn’t matter for frying in the pan. Oil or butter are both suitable. You will notice that the oil is absorbed by the mushrooms and then we often tend to add more oil. Wait a while, because the mushrooms also release a lot of moisture.

When the moisture has evaporated again, you can decide whether you want to add oil. Too much oil is not good for us either!

Mushrooms On Pizza Bake First

On a pizza it is smart to fry the mushrooms in the oil for about 4 minutes. If you don’t, they will quickly shrivel in the hot oven, because pizzas are baked at a high temperature.
