HOW TO USE THE PRESSURE COOKER

DO NOT FILL THE PRESSURE COOKER

When cooking in a pressure cooker, do not fill the entire pot. This prevents the steam from getting trapped and escaping. For this reason, be careful to leave 1/3 of the pot empty.

TURN THE WHISTLE TO THE VERTICAL POSITION

In old model pressure cookers, the pressure part of the pot is adjusted manually. Make sure to turn the whistle to the vertical position after closing the lid of the pot to ensure the air outlet is correct. This process is done automatically in new model pots.

DOWNLOAD THE WHISTLE AFTER A MINUTE

In automatic pressure cookers, the whistle goes down by itself. But if you are adjusting the whistle by hand as we mentioned before, lower it 1 minute after the sound. When the pressure cooker starts making noise, the air continues to come out. Therefore, waiting for 60 seconds will allow you to get safer results.

DO NOT REMOVE THE POT FROM THE COOKER

One of the most common mistakes is to take the pot from the stove immediately after the food is cooked and the stove is turned off. However, when you turn off the stove, the pressure and boiling process in the pot continues. When the air coming out of the whistle is completely gone, you can take your food from the stove.

DO NOT OPEN THE COVER IMMEDIATELY

As we mentioned above, even if the food is cooked, it takes a while for the air to escape. The pressure inside makes it difficult to open the lid. Therefore, when it starts to warm up, the lid will open more easily.

MUST CLEAN THE AIR OUTLET

Particularly small pieces of food often escape to the whistle part of the pot. This causes the whistle to clog and reduce air output. So after any cooking, clean the whistle part carefully.

COOKING TIME FOR EVERY MEAL IS DIFFERENT

The pressure cooker, which cooks food in one third less time than a normal pot, makes cooking more enjoyable. However, the point that should not be forgotten is that the cooking time of each dish is different. Set the timer on the pressure cooker according to the food you will cook.

DO NOT SOAT THE PULSES

When you cook the legumes in a regular pot, you need to soak them the night before. When using a pressure cooker, there is no need to soak legumes such as chickpeas and beans. However, do not forget to take into account that the food will cook in a shorter time than usual if you have soaked it.

ADJUST THE WATER OF THE MEAL WELL

Always add water while cooking in the pressure cooker. Not adding any water can cause the pan to crack. Using less water causes the bottom of the food to stick when the water runs out. However, adjust the amount of water appropriately, as you cannot open and check the lid while cooking the food.

MUST WAIT FOR FROZEN FOODS TO thaw

Allow frozen foods to thaw at room temperature or in water before cooking. Also, remember that frozen foods cook in a shorter time than usual.

WHY DOES THE PRESSURE COOKER EXPLODE?

There are some situations that cause the pressure cooker to explode.

If the pressure cooker is filled too much and the maximum line is exceeded, the pressure inside will cause an explosion.

If you try to open the lid of the pressure cooker immediately, it may cause an explosion as the air is not released. That’s why we recommend waiting at least 1 minute.

Putting too little water in the cooker can not only cause the food to burn, but also cause the pressure cooker to explode. Therefore, the water balance must be well adjusted.
