Ingredients: Most people think that making a curry is hard work. But, once you get the hang of it, you will realize that curry is one of the most easy-to-do dishes. And the same ingredients can be used over and over again to make new recipes. Here are the things you will need to make a mouthwatering crab curry.

  • Fresh crabs
  • Sliced Onions
  • Cumin Seeds
  • Coriander leaves (Chopped)
  • Ginger and Garlic paste
  • Mustard oil
  • Ground Coconut
  • Coconut Milk
  • Curry leaves
  • Tomatoes
  • Chili powder
  • Turmeric Powder
  • Green Chili
  • Salt

Step-1: At first, break the crabs into bite-size pieces before cooking. You can wash the crabs with cold water and crack their legs one by one with kitchen scissors. Or, to make this process easier, you may boil a pot of water and drop the whole crabs in them. Let the water boil for five minutes. Once you take out the crabs, they will be cleaned thoroughly, and it will be easier to crack their legs. If you want more out of your crab dish, you may order stone crab claw and get them delivered right to your doorstep.

Step-2: Now that the crabs are ready to be cooked, it is time to prepare the curry. Take a flat pan and pour some mustard oil on it. Let the oil heat up, and then add the cumin seeds, onions, cut tomatoes, ginger paste, garlic paste, and turmeric powder. Let the tomatoes get soften up a bit, and then add chili powder.

Step-3: Add ground coconut into the pan once the paste gets soft. The coconut will provide that sweet and creamy flavor to your curry. Now, lower the heat and let the coconut cook for about ten minutes. Once the ground coconut releases its oils and juices, add a little water to the pan so that the mixture does not get burned.

Step-4: Add salt to taste when the mixture is creamy and thick. Next, add the crab claws or crab pieces into the pan and pour more mustard oil on top. The mustard oil will help enhance the flavor of the curry. Add the curry leaves and coconut milk at this point to the mixture. Boil the milk for about a minute, and then add 2 cups of water. Again, cover the top and cook the food for ten minutes.

Step-5: Once the water is reduced to a thick cream, your curry is prepared. You can plate the dish and garnish the same with freshly cut coriander leaves. Crab curries are best served with steaming hot rice or Indian-styled Stuffed Nun. Be sure to serve the dish hot.
