Health Benefits of Tomato Juice

There have been many studies on the health benefits of tomato juice, so there is evidence that tomato juice is healthy for you. Here are the results from those studies:

Improves blood pressure

Cardiovascular diseases are the leading causes of death worldwide and, according to the World Health Organization (WHO), they were responsible for 15.2 million deaths worldwide (26.7%)

401 volunteers participated in the study, of which 184 were men and 297 women. The mean age of the participants was 56 years.

After drinking tomato juice daily for 3 months, their blood pressure improved by an average of 16.8%.

Lose weight with tomato juice

In this study, a total of 30 young women with a BMI above 20 were collected, 25 of whom completed the entire study. The subjects continued with their normal diet and training schedule, but were given 280 ml of tomato juice per day for 2 months.

These results show that taking tomato juice daily helps you lose weight and reduces waist circumference. This is because the tomatoes prevent cholesterol build-up in the body.  

How much weight the women had lost in 2 months is not concrete in the study, but they were positively surprised by the effects.

Disadvantages of Tomato Juice

While tomato juice is highly nutritious and can provide impressive health benefits, it also has some drawbacks.

Perhaps the biggest drawback is that most products contain a lot of sodium. Many tomato juice products contain added salt, which increases the sodium content. Sodium-rich products can be problematic, especially for people who are considered salt sensitive.

Certain groups of people are more likely to be negatively affected by sodium-rich foods

Note that many juices have other fruits added, which can increase the calorie and sugar content. Some juices may even contain added sugars.
