Lose 5 kilos in 5 days? Which can! The hospital has long been known as a diet to lose weight very fast. It’s very simple.

The hospital diet is a crash diet. With a crash diet you eat much less than the body needs and you can lose a lot of weight in a short time. The hospital diet was originally intended to help people who, for example, have to undergo surgery and who are overweight, lose weight in the very short term. However, it is now also used to simply lose weight ‘quickly’.

There are several crash diets on the market. The hospital diet is the best known of these. You can follow the diet for five days and then just eat a healthy diet and exercise a lot to keep your weight off. Optionally, you can follow a crash diet again later. Do not follow the diet for more than five days in a row, as you risk missing out on important nutrients.

The hospital diet

Coffee and tea without sugar or milk (with moderate use of sweeteners is allowed), and you can drink unlimited mineral water during the diet.

For every morning

  • 1 orange or grapefruit
  • 1 rusk or toasted sandwich
  • coffee or tea without sugar or milk

  • The lettuce may be seasoned with a little salt, vinegar and a dash of oil.
  • The rusk/toasted sandwiches may be topped with cucumber, tomato and/or some celery.
  • It is recommended to grill the meat.
  • During the diet it is important to drink plenty of water (two liters per day)

You can eat normally on weekends.

Stay on your target weight

By eating the following every Monday:

  • in the morning: 1 glass of water with a lemon
  • Afternoon: 1 apple, 1 rusk or 1 toasted sandwich
  • Evening: half a head of lettuce, 1 egg and 1 tomato
