In recent years, the cherry diet has become extremely popular. With it, the amount of food is reduced to a minimum, and those applying the popular diet should eat mainly cherries and drink a lot of water.

However, recent research has shown that the new craze for losing weight , in addition to being an ineffective method of slimming down, is also extremely harmful.

Prominent nutritionists warn that with the cherry diet, excess fat is not lost , and the body is deprived of muscle mass and water. This often leads to an upset stomach and even dehydration.

Why the cherry diet is not effective

The main reason for the ineffectiveness of the cherry diet is the high amount of sugars in the fruit.

By consuming 2 kilograms of cherries, the body receives 1200 calories, 20% of which are sugars. Most of them are glucose , which leads to an increase in body fat.

Cherries also lack important ingredients for the body, such as B-group vitamins, iron, calcium, magnesium, vitamins E, A, D, zinc and selenium. This means that they cannot be a complete food, and the minimal amount of protein in them causes the body to get what it needs by breaking down the muscle tissue in the body.

Calculations have shown that during a normal course of the diet, the body loses about 500 grams of muscle mass, and almost immediately after that it regains between 500 and 700 grams of fat.

What is the effective cherry diet

In order for the cherry diet to be effective , experts in the field recommend that cherries be combined with healthy foods to provide the body with the necessary substances. Divide the cherries into 5 portions and eat them with yogurt, white meat and fresh vegetables.

Start your day with a healthy menu that contains no more than 200 grams of cherries. For lunch, eat chicken breast with salad, and for dinner – fish with stewed vegetables.

The maximum permissible amount of cherries per day is one kilogram. Drinking at least two liters of water daily is a must.
