Red Beets Cooking And Herbs

  • 4 tbsp vinegar
  •  Pinch of white Pepper or more
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 tsp thyme
  • 1 tsp sugar

You can grate or slice the cooked beets and return them to the pan. Place the pan back on the heat source and set it to a low setting. Add some white (or black) pepper, salt and thyme to the beets.

Stir this through. Add the vinegar, do this spoon by spoon and taste in between. Add the sugar if necessary. Warm up the red beets equally well. Enjoy your meal!

If you don’t have certain herbs at home, just don’t add them. If you use vinegar and if you have no sugar, I would moderate the vinegar.

Taste first before adding all the vinegar. Sometimes beets are sweet enough and the combination with 2 spoons of vinegar is fine. Taste!

Red Beets From The Oven

Red beets can be roasted in the oven with delicious herbs. Here are some examples:

  • 1 clove Garlic
  • 1 tsp Marjoram
  • 1 tsp Oregano
  • pinch of salt
  • pinch of pepper

The seasonings olive oil and balsamic vinegar also taste great with this.

If you want to roast large beets, it is better to cut them in half first. Otherwise it will take a very long time for them to cook. You can use small beets like this.

Preheat the oven to 200 degrees.

Place a piece of aluminum foil on the counter and place 1 beetroot on it. Cut the garlic clove into small slices and divide the slices over the number of beets you have.

Divide the herbs over the number of beetroots, it will fall on the aluminum foil but that does not matter. Now make a boat out of the foil so that the balsamic does not run off.

Pour a small dash of balsamic vinegar over the beets and a little olive oil and close the aluminum foil tightly. Do not squeeze the foil around the beetroot, but fold it loosely around it, but close it well.

In the oven: Bake for 1 hour and remove from the foil. Pay attention! The foil is hot but cools down quickly.

When you open the foil, hot steam may come out. Remove the skin from the beetroot, this is not good to eat. Cut off the head and tail of the beet.

Or roast with pumpkin. Also tasty.

You can also use thyme and rosemary instead of marjoram and oregano.

Herbs For Beetroot Salad

  • 1 tsp dried mint
  • Oregano
  • Pepper
  • salt

Other seasonings are: pomegranate seeds, juice of half a lemon and a spring onion cut into small pieces.

This is a cold beetroot salad.

The boiled beets (400 grams) have been skinned and a piece has been cut off from both sides. Cut the beetroot into cubes.

The mint is cut into small strips, you need 1 tablespoon or you use 1 teaspoon dried mint. Do this through the beetroot salad. Stir in the lemon juice, spring onion and pomegranate seeds.

If you find it too acidic, sugar is the solution. Add a teaspoon of sugar. Mix it all together well. You now have a delicious beetroot salad!

Cooking beets in the microwave

This is a quick way to eat deliciously spiced beetroot from the microwave.

  • Pepper, white
  • salt
  • A few sprigs of chopped Dill or 1 tsp dried Dill

Other seasonings include soy cream, a dash of vinegar and a little vegetable butter.

Cut the cooked beetroot into slices. Heat vegetable butter in a microwave-safe bowl and add the beets. Warm the beets by setting the microwave for 3 minutes or longer.

It depends on the number of WATTs in the microwave how long the beets have to be in it until they are warm. Put the lid on the microwave dish otherwise the beets will dry out. Beets should now be very hot.

Add a dash of vinegar and the soy cream. Stir well and add salt and pepper to taste. Add the dill and stir it in. Enjoy your meal!
