For the seventh year in a row, the Mediterranean diet has won the title of best diet ever . This indicates the ranking for 2024 of the American magazine US News & World Report.

The evaluation, as reported by CNN, was carried out by a panel of experts: 43 nutritionists specializing in diabetes, heart health and weight loss.

The criteria used to compile the Best Diets ranking consider nutritional completeness, health risks and benefits, long-term sustainability, and evidence-based effectiveness.

The Mediterranean diet is the best

The Mediterranean diet is the easiest to follow. In addition, there are the following requirements: the best diet for the family , the best diet for healthy eating and the best diet for diabetes, healthy nutrition for bones and joints and for the heart.

The Mediterranean diet is a way of life, so much so that it includes in its recommendations social interactions during meals and exercise.

What are the other diets in the ranking?

In second and third place on the list of best diets (out of 30 contestants) are two other plant-based diets: the DASH diet (shown against hypertension) and the MIND diet (against dementia).

Vegan diet

For the first time, the committee rated the vegan diet, which ranked third in the “best plant-based diets” ranking.

The keto diet

The keto diet is ranked 25th out of 30, but takes first place in the “best fast weight loss” category.

Dukan Diet

Finally, the Dukan Diet is ranked 28th out of 30, and Herbalife Nutrition is second to last. At the bottom of the list of the 30 best diets is the raw food diet, which recommends eating food that has not been “cooked, processed, irradiated, genetically modified, or exposed to pesticides or herbicides.”
