Tips for Storing Qurban Meat

The first thing you have to do before storing the sacrificial meat is to wash it thoroughly using running water. This is to minimize exposure to bacteria in the meat.

“When washing sacrificial meat before storing it, don’t forget to wash your hands with soap and running water first. This is important, because bacteria on your hands can move and stay on the meat,” said Dr. Karin .

“Use different plates, bowls and various utensils for raw meat and cooked meat. This is necessary to reduce the risk of spreading germs,” ​​he added.

After washing it thoroughly, the next step is to place the meat in a food container labeled food grade in a dry condition. After that, put the meat that has been packaged in a food container into the freezer.

It should be noted that the recommended freezer temperature is minus 17 degrees Celsius. With this low temperature, the meat will last longer, approximately up to 6 months.

“If you are going to process it within three days, it is better to store the sacrificial meat in the refrigerator. If you really want to consume it later, store it in the freezer so that the meat can last for several months.

“However, if possible, it is recommended that sacrificial meat be consumed as soon as possible, at least within one week,” concluded Dr. Karin .

How to store Eid al-Adha sacrificial meat, whether beef or goat, is very important to note so that the quality of the meat is maintained. By storing it properly, the meat will not be easily infected by bacteria and the nutrients in the meat will be maintained.
