Is chocolate healthy? Not everyone can answer this directly, but what we all answer is the answer to the question whether chocolate is tasty? Because almost all of us find it delicious, but in addition to being tasty, it is also healthy! Some people are surprised, but it is very healthy and it has been proven several times that it is good for our health.

Eating chocolate in a diet and for our health

Although many people think that chocolate is unhealthy and that it is prohibited in a diet, this is completely incorrect. It is a proven fact that it is healthy and it is not bad food. Chocolate is therefore allowed in a diet. Cocoa, from which chocolate is made, is one of the greatest sources of antioxidants. Among other things, it provides us with magnesium, potassium, and other useful amino acids that help our body. These flavonoids (antioxidants) protect you against cardiovascular disease, even with a small piece of chocolate.

Dark chocolate

Pure chocolate is really healthy! What is not healthy for our body is chocolate that has been processed with a lot of sugar, milk powder, and flavorings, so that little real chocolate remains. Unhealthy examples are Mars, a Twix, chocolates, and other sweets. It goes without saying that such sweets do not belong in a diet or in a healthy diet. What does belong in it are bars of dark chocolate? Pure is recognizable by its bitter taste and is much healthier than white or milk chocolate. Milk chocolate often contains a lot of sugar and also reduces the antioxidant effect.

So when eating healthy chocolate, you should look for pure. Real dark chocolate contains at least 54% cocoa and this percentage can be as high as 90%. White chocolate contains no cocoa at all and should therefore not even bear the name chocolate.

Is chocolate healthy?

Chocolate is derived from the tropical plant Theobroma Cacao, which means “food for the gods”. Until 1615, chocolate remained a secret of the Spanish. From the moment that King Louis XIII married the daughter of the Spanish king, this changed. Then it was presented to the French Court. Since then, the love for chocolate has not stopped.

Several recent studies have shown that chocolate plays a positive role in our health. Chocolate is a product that contains a great source of important elements, such as antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals. Below all the benefits at a glance:

  • Good for your cholesterol role
  • Against diabetes
  • Maintaining healthy blood pressure
  • Stimulation of metabolism
  • Helps against coughing
  • A better humer

It is a fact that chocolate should be eaten in moderation (no more than 200 grams per week), but that is the case with most foods.
