How to store fruit juice
Store fruit juice for 24 hours, and freshly squeezed juice is better and healthier to drink right away, well, maximum for a couple of hours. As a last resort, the fruit juice can be frozen.
At room temperature
Fruit juice can be kept at room temperature for a maximum of an hour. In warmth, it will quickly lose its valuable properties, so a freshly prepared drink is considered the most useful.
To extend the shelf life, fresh fruit must be refrigerated.
The container used here influences its shelf life:
– In a tightly closed glass container, it can be saved for 12 hours.
– Shelf life in an airtight plastic container is less than 12 hours.
– A vacuum container is the best option. There is a special valve on the lid of such a container. Through it, with the help of a vacuum pump, air is pumped out of the container. The juice located here will retain its taste for a day.
Different juices and timing
How long the drink is stored in the refrigerator also depends on the fruit used to prepare it. In sweet juices, fermentation proceeds faster. The acidic ones contain ascorbic acid, which is a preservative. For example, orange juice can retain its taste for up to 48 hours. But if you add fresh apple juice to freshly made citrus juice, the shelf life of the drink will be reduced to 24 hours.
You can also freeze fruit juice in plastic containers. In this form, it perfectly retains its properties. It can be kept in the freezer for up to 12 months.
