Usually, dates are sold in dried form by weight or in sealed packages – in this form, dates at normal room temperature in the kitchen will stand for about 2-3 weeks, then they will begin to dry out and become harder. For long-term storage, it is better to prefer a refrigerator or at least a cold balcony.
Dates with chocolate, honey, nuts will be stored for up to a year in a factory-sealed package, but after opening it, the sweetness must be eliminated within a week. Which, in general, is not difficult, given the low weight of such products – usually 200 grams, maximum 400.
How to keep dates fresh?
Store raw dates in the refrigerator in a plastic container or glass jar for up to 2 weeks.
How to keep dates longer?
Any dates in sealed packaging are stored very well, up to a year for sure. But if you choose dates in bulk, know that dates with intact skin, slightly oily surface, dark, and not sticky are well stored. Dates with stone are better stored (fewer air containers).
Can dates be frozen?
If there are a lot of dates, as a last resort, you can use the freezer for storage – just put it in a bag and send it to the freezer, where the dates will last for a year or two.
