How to remove pomegranate juice stains

How to remove pomegranate juice stains

It is not difficult to remove a pomegranate juice stain from clothes, furniture or carpet if the stain is fresh. But due to the presence of acids, it eats into the fabric fibers and stains them very quickly. Therefore, do not delay its removal, because the chances of restoring your favorite thing will only increase.

Fresh stains

Any product requires preliminary testing on an inconspicuous area of the product before use. If the fabric has just been stained, the following methods will help:

  • Stretch the item over the container and pour boiling water from the kettle over the problem area. This method is considered the fastest and most effective. But it is used on fabrics that are not prone to fading and are resistant to high temperatures. Delicate materials cannot be soaked in boiling water. Therefore, you need to carefully read the tag on the clothes so as not to spoil them.
  • There is a second method – more gentle to delicate fabrics. It is enough to soak the item in water at room temperature with the addition of 3-4 teaspoons of regular baking soda. Keep it in this solution for half an hour. Then rinse in clean water and wash in the usual way.
  • The third way to get rid of a pomegranate stain is to treat it with an aqueous solution of 9% table vinegar. To do this, dissolve 1 teaspoon of the substance in 50 ml of warm clean water, the proportion should be 1:10, moisten a cotton pad and apply to the stain. Rinse the item and send it to a regular wash. The method is also suitable for white items.
  • Rub the soiled area with laundry soap, leave it for a few minutes, and then rinse. Wash in the usual way.

If after washing the item you notice that the stain still remains, you can repeat the procedure again.

We remove old stains

In order to remove a stubborn garnet stain, after a preliminary test of the selected product, you can use one of the suggested methods:

  • Mix dishwashing gel with a small amount of water, apply to the stain, rub a little, leave for 10-15 minutes. Then rinse with warm water.
  • Apply ethyl alcohol to the dirty area with a cotton pad and rub the stain with light movements, moving from the edge to the center. Change the colored pad, repeat the procedure. Then rinse under a powerful stream of water and let dry. The advantage of this method is that it is universal and equally applicable to removing garnet stains from both colored and white clothing.
  • Stain remover or oxygen powder is used according to the manufacturer’s instructions. The former is usually applied for action 10-15 minutes before washing.
  • Mix the yolk in a bowl and add 1 tablespoon of glycerin. Soak a tampon in this mixture and apply it to the pomegranate stain. Leave it to act for a while, then rinse the mixture with cool water.
  • Baking soda. This method is suitable for delicate fabrics, as well as white items. The solution preparation algorithm is the same as in the case of a fresh stain (3-4 tablespoons of soda per 3 liters of water). But this time, the time the laundry is kept in water should be increased to two hours. Or, for a more active effect, apply a gruel of soda to the stain and leave for 20-30 minutes, then send it to the wash.
  • Acetone, petrol or white spirit. These products should not be used to remove stains from velvet, wool, silk and chiffon clothing. They are more radical as they can corrode the fabric or spoil its colour. It is recommended to first test the action of these chemicals on a less noticeable area of the garment.

The cleaning technology is simple: soak a cotton swab in one of the listed products and wipe the dirty area. Leave it to act for 10-15 minutes, rinse the item and wash as usual.

Removing Stains from White Clothes

Such things cannot be simply thrown into the wash without pre-treatment. In this case, the pomegranate juice stain will become even wider and acquire a purple or blue tint. It will definitely not be possible to remove it. In addition to cleaning with vinegar, alcohol and methods applicable to removing old stains, the following will help remove them from white items:

  • Mix hydrogen peroxide and ammonia in equal proportions. Pour a teaspoon of the prepared solution into 100 ml of hot water. Wet a cotton swab well and wipe the desired area with it. Rinse under running water and then wash in a convenient way.
  • Citric acid. Dissolve a teaspoon of the product in a glass of water. Add another glass of vodka. Soak the fabric in the prepared mixture and rub the stain well. Rinse and dry the item.
  • Just mix it in equal quantities with water. Pour it on the stain and rub it. Wash the clothes in the usual way.
  • Chlorine-free bleach is used according to the algorithm specified in the instructions.
  • You can boil the item for 20 minutes. For greater effectiveness, add hydrogen peroxide to the water (2-3 teaspoons per 2 liters of water).

Removing stains from pomegranate juice is really not that easy. However, you should not immediately part with your favorite thing. You can fight for it using any of the listed methods or use a whole range of measures.
