Fresh Corn on the Cob Cooking
Cooking corn is not that difficult to do, but with a knob of butter and a little salt and possibly pepper it is very tasty. You can take a tall pan that the cobs stand straight on, but I use a regular pan that the corn cob just sits in. Works just as well! What are you going to do in the kitchen.
- Place a large pan with water on the heat source and heat the water.
- Remove the wires and blades from the flask.
- Also remove a piece from either end and cut it away with a sharp knife.
- If the corn cob is too big for your pan, you can cut the cob in half.
- When the water boils, the cobs go into the pan.
- Now boil the cobs for about 10 minutes for small and fresh cobs and about 20 minutes for large cobs.
The corn should come off easily when you peel the corn off the cob. So try carefully.
Drain the corn in the colander and serve your corn immediately on the table with a knob of vegetable oil or a few drops of olive oil and possibly salt and pepper.
Do not use salt when cooking the corn on the cob. A few vegetables are not fond of salt during cooking. For example, the skin of the green bean hardens during cooking with salt and the corn becomes tough. So add salt if necessary after cooking, not during cooking.

Corn On The Cob Cooking For BBQ
A friend of mine told me that they pre-cook corn on the cob before grilling it on the barbecue. I was a bit surprised, because it doesn’t have to be. They can go on the bbq in no time.
The reason she goes on is the following: The bbq is often very hot and if you don’t put the corn in the right place on the bbq, they can burn. The cobs need about 20 minutes to cook on the BBQ and to shorten this cooking time and reduce the chance of burning, she pre-cooks the cobs.
She put the flasks in boiling water for 5-6 minutes and then let them drain in a colander. By cooking them briefly, the cooking time on the BBQ is only 12-15 minutes and the chance of burning is reduced.
I haven’t tried it yet, but I’ll definitely give it a try.
