Dipropos – what is it used for?

Diprophos is a corticosteroid preparation that is used to treat various inflammatory and allergic conditions.

It is a suspension for intramuscular or local injection containing Betamethasone in two forms, each of which serves a different purpose:

  • betamethasone dipropionate (betamethasone dipropionate) – a long-acting corticosteroid that provides a long-lasting anti-inflammatory effect
  • betamethasone sodium phosphate (betamethasone sodium phosphate) – a fast-acting corticosteroid that provides rapid relief of acute symptoms.

This combination of betamethasone esters with varying degrees of solubility (fast-acting fraction and depot fraction) works to reduce inflammation, suppress the immune system, and relieve symptoms associated with various conditions. This dual-action formula allows for both immediate and long-lasting relief, making it suitable for both acute and chronic conditions.

Diprophos injection suspension is available in ampoules of 1 ml of 1 and 5 pieces in a package.

Mechanism of action

The preparation has a powerful anti-inflammatory, anti-rheumatic, anti-allergic and immunosuppressive effect.

It stimulates the biosynthesis of proteins inhibiting phospholipase A2, as a result of which it suppresses the metabolism of arachidonic acid.

Diprophos is injected intramuscularly or locally – intra-articular, peri-articular, intralesional. It is dosed individually according to the specific disease, its severity and the impact on the patient. The doctor designs a treatment plan to achieve the best therapeutic results while minimizing potential side effects.

After long-term treatment with Diprofos, the intake is stopped as the dose is gradually reduced.

What is Diprofos used for?
